Various opportunities exist for involvement in projects that involve the generation of specific mutations in critical genes involved in liver differentiation and type 2 diabetes. The consequences of each mutation in glucose/insulin metabolism and liver differentiation will subsequently be determined using a variety of molecular assays. Students should plan on laboratory research at least 3 hours twice each week per credit hour of research , as well as  short visits during the week to take an experiment to the next step..
